Admission criteria: Profile

The Master's Degree in Artistic Studies in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe is aimed at Graduates in conservation and restoration, with MECES level 2 or European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 6, who wish to broaden their skills through advanced and multidisciplinary training, which promotes their introduction to research tasks and fosters their integration as conservation and restoration professionals in an international, especially European, environment.

The Master's programme is based on the content of the studies leading to the Graduate Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage taught at the ESCRBC (Decree 33/2011), , so it is necessary for candidates to certify that they hold equivalent qualifications. This requirement, as well as being necessary to guarantee the students' progress, will be essential for ESCRBC Master's Graduates to be able to demonstrate that their qualifications are in line with the requirements established for the practice of the profession in Spain and the surrounding countries.

In order to ensure that the students' level is appropriate for their studies and that the skills acquired are in line with the international standards of the conservation-restoration professional at Master's level, prior knowledge must be in keeping with the basic contents established by the Ministry of Education for Higher Artistic Education at Bachelor’s Degree level in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (Royal Decree 635/2010). Otherwise, their acquisition may be established by means of the additional courses deemed appropriate.

Prior knowledge of “Management and professional organisation”, “Conservation-restoration projects”, and “Research and documentation methodology” are particularly relevant, as the Master's Degree specifically contemplates an extension of the content of these subjects acquired in the previous degree.

Knowledge of any additional language (besides Spanish) at B2 level is recommended in order to facilitate student mobility and to be eligible for external placements abroad.
