Extra-curricular Activities

Throughout the academic year, the ESCRBC organises extra-curricular activities for its students and graduates as well as for other people interested in updating or improving their skills in specialised fields related to the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.

Within this section, it is worth mentioning the Work Campaigns that are traditionally offered during the summer period exclusively for ESCRBC students. These summer campaigns allow our students to apply in situ the knowledge acquired in conditions that are often impossible to reproduce in restoration workshops, as well as an initial introduction to what will soon be for many of them their working environment.

Apart from the aforementioned summer campaigns, for over a decade the ESCRBC has been offering a wide range of activities in the evenings, such as cycles of conferences on preventive conservation, or courses such as gilding applied to bookbinding, the conservation of photographic collections or the preservation of film materials, among many others.

For over 20 years, the ESCRBC has also hosted the weekly activities organised by the Spanish Association of Friends of Archaeology (AAA), of which it is an honorary member, as well as the technical conferences occasionally organised by AESCROM, the association of students and alumni of the school itself.

The speakers at these courses and conferences are always prestigious professionals and sometimes also ESCRBC lecturers. Fees for the extra-curricular activities are usually partially subsidised for ESCRBC students and alumni, and participants receive the corresponding certificate of attendance.
